Flores' New Vegan Menu
Corte Madera restaurant, Flores, has added a robust offering of fully plant-based dishes. This restaurant is now a great option for vegans eating with a group of omnivorous friends and family. Way to go, Flores!
I highly recommend the Sikil P’ak pumpkin seed dip. It is served with jicama sticks and lettuce leaves, and is easily shared by 2, but maybe even four people. It’s a hearty and filling starter.
The taco trio was a disappointment…the Beyond sausage and potato taco was tepid at best and lacked flavor…maybe they needed to brown the sausage a bit longer? The “crispy avocado” taco was cold avocado. The mushroom al pastor held the most promise, but they use king oyster mushrooms and they are whole, making this a challenging taco to eat! It is impossible to bite through those mushroom stems. They should consider using Maitake mushrooms instead.
The veggie bowl is delicious. I really look forward to returning for the chili relleno!
I am hoping this is a trend that will continue at omnivorous restaurants- a full menu of plant-based items in addition to the regular menu. Flores has proven that you don’t only need to consider vegan diners as an afterthought.
