Barrel House Tavern

Oh my. This place is AWFUL for vegans. My omnivorous dining companions loved their food…and I went home hungry.

I came to this gorgeous space for the first time to celebrate a birthday. I scanned the menu and the server came by and asked if we had any questions.

Me: Is your butternut squash soup vegan?

Server: No.

Me: Is your vegetable cake appetizer vegan?

Server: No. They wouldn’t have any way to make it stick together without egg. (Side note- there are a dozen ways to make a vegetable patty stick together without egg)

Me: Are the mushroom ravioli with a balsamic reduction vegan?

Server: No.

Me: Okay….so what is vegan on this very extensive menu?

Server: You could order the Beyond Burger without the brioche bun, which contains butter and egg. Or the fries. Or you could order the kale salad without the cheese.

So, if anyone at Barrel House is listening….at least offer your vegan burger with a VEGAN BUN.
